Rohme, Woodrow W., 80, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at home. He was born April 29, 1924 in Marshall County, WV, a son of the late Edward and Eva Morris Rohme.
He was a retired employee of the former LCP Chemical Company, Moundsville; a Protestant by faith; a member of the American Legion, Earl Francis Post #3, a life member of the VFW Post #437, both of Moundsville and a life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War. Woody was a World War II veteran of the United States Army where he received two Purple Hearts, the European, Middle Eastern and African Service Medal, the Good Conduct Metal, the World War II US European Theater Metal and was a former POW for 18 months. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred I. Courtright Rohme in 1998; two sisters, Mary Morris and Nancy Miller; four brothers, Samuel, Cecil, Larry and William Rohme. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville where services will be held at 11 am Friday, August 27, 2004 with the Rev. Bonnie Bell officiating. Entombment in Halcyon Hills Mausoleum, Sherrard, WV. The Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. The Order of the Purple Heart will conduct services at 7:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
