Wilton T. ”Whitey” McElroy
Wilton T. ”Whitey” McElroy 71, of Glasgow Road, Lisbon, Ohio died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at home following a brief illness.
He was born in Claibourne, Ohio on March 2, 1930 and was the son of the late Dwight and Agnes Thompson McElroy.
Mr. McElroy has lived in the area since 1959 and worked as a supervisor at the First Energy Sammis Plant for 42 years, retiring in 1990. He was a graduate of Richwood High School in Richwood, Ohio and was a member of the Wellsville First Christian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Trustee. He belonged to the Yellow Creek Grange and bowled on the church leagues at Tri State Bowling Lanes.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Patterson McElroy, whom he married August 3, 1979;

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew McElroy.
Services will be held at the Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main Street, Wellsville, Ohio 43968, on Monday, July 30, 2001 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Howard Chartier, officiating.
Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Sunday, July 29, 2001 from Noon to 3:00 and 6 to 8 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsville First Christian Church.
