Carman, William M. S., 86, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 in the Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling.
He was born in Benwood, WV on Feb. 24, 1917, the son of the late William L. and Agnes Freeman Carman.
William was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Wheeling; a retired employee of Blaw-Knox Foundry; a 50-year member and Past Master of Wheeling Lodge #5 A.F. and A.M.; a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; and a member of Osiris Temple AAONMS; Royal Order of Scotland; the Past Worthy Patron-Miriam Chapter #1 O.E.S.; the Veterans Association of Osiris Temple, Arab Patrol of Osiris Temple and the Wheeling Court #13 R.O.J.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Wilson Carman in 1990.
William is survived by: two sons, William H. Carman and his wife, Sandra, of Powell, Ohio and Michiel W. Carman and his wife, Barbara Sue, of Columbus; two granddaughters: Corrine Kavinsky and her husband, Keith of Dublin, Ohio and Christine Ostasiewski and her husband, Tom of Roanoke, Va; a grandson, Michiel Carman and his wife, Allison of Canal Winchester, Ohio; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; several nieces and nephew; a sister-in-law, Margaret Harris of Washington, Pa, and a devoted friend, Betty Jungling of Wheeling.
Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove Chapel, Wheeling, WV, where services will be held at 11 am Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003 with the Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.
Wheeling Lodge #5 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic graveside services.
Memorial conttibutions may be made to Shriners’ Childrens’ Hospital, c/o Osiris Temple, Monument Place, Wheeling, WV 26003.
