William J. SKAPIK, Sr. 91 of Bellaire, died Monday April 1, 2002 in Hadzima Care Home, Dillonvale, Ohio.

He was born March 6, 1911 in Bellaire, son of the late Michael and Anna Nekovar Skapik.

He was a retired coal miner from the UMWA having worked at Big Run #3 the Clean Coal Company and mine. A member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Bellaire; Knights of Columbus, and a life member of the Bellaire Eagles, Lansing Sportsman Club and ME-MMA, Ohio Valley Branch.

His wife, Julia Sladick Skapik, three brothers, Joseph, John and Raymond Skapik and three sisters, Mary Pertl, Antoinette Fueling, and Violet Maziek, preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, William Skapik, Jr. and his wife Rosalie of Bridgeport; James Skapik of Shadyside; three daughters, Donna Jean Kubiak and her husband Alfred of Crown Point, IN; Patricia Oleska and her husband David of Shadyside; Rebecca Pettit and her husband Dan of Shadyside; two sisters, Katherine Havelka of Bellaire; Anna Clark of Shadyside; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441-37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio.

Funeral Liturgy and Mass will be held Friday at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, Bellaire.

Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.

Hey, grandkids, do you remember how much Grandpa liked watermelon…and strawberries?
