William J. Dierkes, Jr. 65 of Columbia Hill, Fairpoint, Ohio, died Tuesday July 22, 2003 at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born in Wheeling, WV on July 19, 1938 a son of the late William
J. Sr. and Dorothea Kilver Dierkes.

Bill was a safety consultant for the Ohio Department of Transportation and a retired Highway Patrolman.

He was a member of and eucharistic minister for St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church of Fairpoint and was RCIA coordinator for St. Mary’s Church in Lafferty. He was a former Marine.

Surviving are his wife Jeanie Green Dierkes, three sons Donald Hilary of Lancaster, Ohio; David A. of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and Dennis W. Angie of Barnesville, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Debra Dierkes Hawthorne of New Athens, and Mrs. Robert Dorothea Vargo of Hopedale, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Ben Marguerite Bloomfield of Massillon, Ohio and 11 grandchildren.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Friday at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairpoint, Ohio, with Father Thomas
Graven the celebrant. Burial follows at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Vigil services will be held at 3 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,
Fairpoint, Ohio.

I was in the 71st Highway Patrol Class with William. He was a true American. Rest in peace.
