VIRGINIA BEACH-William Bill Babin, 86, passed away on January 28, 2014. He was the son of the late Joseph E. Babin and Mary Bessette. He served in the US Army for thirty-four years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Babin; and his second wife, Annie Mae Babin. Bill is survived by his daughter, Lynn Duncan and husband, Tim of Glen Allen, VA; step-daughters, Gwen Daughtrey and husband, Mike of Moyock, NC, and Sharon Koski and husband Vern of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandsons. In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Cancer Society. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2014, 6-8pm. A funeral service will be at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. VA Beach, on Monday, February 3, 2014, 1pm, followed by a graveside burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake. To leave a message to the family please visit altmeyer.com

Bill was a great soldier and a great American. I enjoyed many beers and good conversation at the IWLA over the years. I will miss that elfin smile and the company of a true friend. Rest in peace. MAC

I just learned of Bill’s passing, and wanted to tell you how deeply saddened I am to hear this.

A great man, good friend, funny guy, and an avid Jeopardy fan. I will miss Bill dearly.

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL. HE WAS A GREAT FATHER, I KNOW LYNN AND HER FAMILY WELL. SHE TOOK CARE OF HIM SO WELL. I KNOW HE LOVED HER SO MUCH. HE TOLD ME THAT WHEN LYNN FIRST WHEN TO TAKE CARE OF HIM. HE ONE TIME SAID HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HE WOULD DO WITH OUT HER. MUCH LOVE TO ALL THE FAMILY.

So sorry for your loss. Bill was a great man who donated many of his hours with the Isacc Walton League. He will be missed but not forgotten.
