Wells E. Conkle
Age: 87

Wells E. Conkle, 87, of Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lisbon, Ohio on February 17, 1919, a son of the late Charles and Ruby Rayle Conkle.

Living his entire life in the East Liverpool and Lisbon area, Mr. Conkle retired from Conrail Railroad where he worked as a pipefitter. He was a member of the Campground Community Church where he served as an elder and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II.

His wife Marquerite Bourda Conkle survives him at home. He is also survived by two sons: Ralph Conkle of Hohenwald, Tennessee and Charles Conkle of Bluntville, Tennessee; two step-daughters, Christine Rollins of East Liverpool, OH and Michele Zirin of Pembrook Pines, Florida; one sister, Louise Webber of Lisbon, Ohio; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Services will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 11 A.M. with the Reverend Delmar Logston of Campground Community Church officiating.

Burial will follow in the United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta where the Tri State Burial Group will accord military honors.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in East Liverpool on Friday, January 5, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

I am so saddened to hear of Dad’s passing. I only wish it would have been possible for me to attend the funeral. Because of the short notice there was no way possible for me to make necessary arrangements to be there. I am so sorry.
