WARREN RICHARD POWNELL
Warren Richard Pownell, 72, of Virginia Beach died on Thursday, October 11, 2001 in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Born in Findlay, Ohio to the late William and Kathryn Pownell, he was a retired service manager in the automotive industry. He retired from the U.S. Army as a CW2 and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ericka Elizabeth Pownell; daughter, Haley Ackerman and her husband, Paul, of New Mexico; son, Mark Steven Pownell and his wife, Cathie, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brothers, Jay Pownell of Findlay, Ohio and William Pownell of Portsmouth, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Leah and Luke Ackerman.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at 2:00pm in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel.
Condolences to the family from many members of Ballys health spa. Richard was an inspiration to all whon knew him. Never complaining or cursing his fate even though he knew that the end was drawing near, alwaays pleasant to be around . We miss him very much. I had grown very fond of Rick..
