Brenda & family,

May you feel comfort and peace through the many Friends who truly care. Walter knew the importance of service to others. Walter allowed his Higher Power to flow through him touching the lives of so many people. May you feel the joy, love, and strength offered to you by the same Friends who have been touched and cared for by Walter. May God bless you & your family one day at a time!

Brenda and family –

Walter was a good friend and dedicated human being. He cared about and actively supported the recovery of hundreds of people in Virginia Beach and I feel honored to have known him. He set an example to others through his selfless devotion and his physical presence.

I always saw him smile and he would do anything for anyone, just as he did for me.

Walter was truly an individual who lived the expression “faith without works is useless” James 2:20. New International version.

Thank you Walter, Brenda, family, and all the animals for letting me get to know you!

Brenda and family:

I did not have the opportunity to meet you but I was blessed to have had the privilege of meeting Walter 16 years ago at the Jughead Group in the Bronx. He was charming and quite witty. He was serious about his sobriety and always had his hand out to help another sick and suffering human being. Walter had many friends in New York who loved him dearly and rest assured you and your family are in their thoughts and prayers. May God bless you and your family during this difficult time.

To Brenda, and the Mattson Family, my heart broke when I heard of the lost of my brother Walter. It pains me that I can not be there. May the powerful example of his life, of his triumph over pain, and turning pain into victory, sustain you in your moments of great sorrow.

Walter will always live in the hearts of members of the fellowship like me, who he helped in achieving and sustaining a life of recovery.

Make the power of God be the light to guide you, like it guided Walter in his day to day affairs.

In Loving memory of my Brother
