Gooch, Walter L., 58, of Vermont Street, Wheeling, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
Walter was born Feb. 8, 1948 in Short Creek, W.Va., a son of the late Avery F. Gooch.
He was a retired truck driver for UPS, a member of the West Liberty Christian Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roebrt Wilson Gooch and Frances Eugene Gooch.
Surviving are his mother, Clara Shephard Gooch of West Liberty; two sons, Walter ”Chip” Haines of Wheeling and Walter ”Chubbers” Corkran; seven sisters, Marilyn Fry and her husband, James of Wheeling, Gloria Green and her husband, Mike of Triadelphia, Joyce Shearer and her husband Sam, of McKees Rocks, Pa., Darlene Chance and her husband, Tom of Wheeling, Kathy Skagggs and her husband, David of Texas, Anita Treadway and her husband, Raymond of West Liberty, W.Va., and Rhea Gooch of Pitcarin, Pa.; seven brothers, Franklin and his wife, Maggie of Dallas Pike, Larry of Wheeling, Victor and his wife, Jan of Wheeling, Edward and his wife, Carletta of Wheeling, Rick L. of West Liberty and Richard of Wheeling; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, with the Rev. Orion Hunter officiating. Interment in Prall Cemetery, West Liberty.
