Vivian M. Thomas, 90, of Wheeling, WV, died March 25, 2015 at Liza’s Place.
She was born June 19, 1924 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Howard and Mariea Welch Gruse.
Vivian was a homemaker, a member of The Red Hat Ladies, Christian Mothers, was a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital for 33 years, a volunteer at Oglebay Institute, member of the Elks Club BPOE#28 and St. Michael Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Prask.
Surviving is her husband of 67 years, James W. Thomas, 4 children; David Thomas and his wife, Vicki of Hermitage, PA, Jeff Thomas and his wife, Mary Jane of Mt. Juliet, TN, Thomas Thomas and his wife, Brenda of Wheeling, Michelle Thomas Nelson and her husband, Gary of Boynton Beach, FL, 2 sisters; Mary Lou Hutchinson and Shirley McCloskey both of Wheeling, 7 grandchildren; Scott Thomas, Carrie Muschweck, Amanda Collins, Christopher Thomas, Johnna Nesaw, Thomie Thomas Pellarin and Kelsie Thomas and 7 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, WV.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00am at the Bishop’s Chapel in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Gallagher officiating.
Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liza’s Place, or the Volunteer Services at Wheeling Hospital.
