Virginia P. Dorris, 94 of Shadyside, Ohio formerly of Moundsville, West Virginia died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio.
She was born July 23, 1917 in Crabtree, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia Gaycek Sawinski.
Virginia was a thirty-five year employee of the former Marx Toy Factory in Glendale, West Virginia, a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the St. Francis Women’s Group both of Moundsville, West Virginia and the Catholic Womens Club in Shadyside, Ohio and the Over 50 Club.
She was a former member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Moundsville, West Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Dorris in 1977; two sisters, Elizabeth Kupiecki and Stella Falenski and one brother, Joseph Sawinski.
Surviving are her son, Bob Dorris of St. Clairsville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Bob Dorris, Jr. of Shadyside, Ohio and Lorrie Stewart of Shadyside, Ohio; former daughters-in-law, Carole Dorris and Sandy Dorris. Also six grandchildren, Amanda Derek Simpson, Courtney Stewart, Kayla Stewart, Madisyn Stewart, Alexa Dorris and Austin Dorris and one great great granddaughter, Kendyl Simpson and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, Ohio on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm and Wednesday at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio from 9 am until time of Funeral liturgy with Mass at 10 am at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio with Fr. Samuel R. Saprano, as celebrant.
Interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Moundsville, West Virginia.
Vigil services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
