Virgie L. Davis
Age 85

Virgie L. Davis, age 85, formerly of Pioneer Road Rogers, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2008, at East Liverpool City Hospital after a brief illness.

The daughter of the late Harvey W. and Bertie Leona Cole Stoneking, she was born in Big Run, W.Va. on September 13, 1922. Living most of her life in this area, Mrs. Davis was a homemaker, attended the Campground Community Church and was active with the East Liverpool Area Senior Citizens.

She was married on March 5, 1946 to the late Arthur James Davis who died on May 27, 1969.

Survivors include two daughters, Velma L. Wheatley and her husband, Michael, of Rogers, Ohio and Mary E. Koontz and her husband, Robert, of Monongahela, PA. One brother, Denzil E. Stoneking of Follansbee, W.Va., four Sisters, Vernice M. Church of Cameron, W.Va., Norma Stoneking of Moundsville, W.Va., Cora O. Burdess of Wellsville, Oh. And Lacy G. Cain of East Liverpool. Four Grandchildren, Michael G. Wheatley Jr. of Sachse, Tx. , Brenda A. Hilbert of Rogers, Oh., Michelle R. Deiley and Aaron G. Koontz of Monongahela, Pa. 8 Great Grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Alvin F. Stoneking, Albert L. Stoneking and Harvey Stoneking Jr. and two sisters Virginia L. Kuhens and Violet M. Streets.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Delmar Logston of the church, officiating.

Entombment will be held at the Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell, W.Va.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, where the East Liverpool Area Senior Citizens will hold a memorial service at 3:30 PM.

Virgie was a wonderful woman. I am honored that I was able to know her, even if it was for a short while. She will be missed!
