Victor J. ”Uncle” Rizzi, 84, formerly of Lenox Avenue, Wheeling, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville.
He was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Superior, Wyo., a son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Carrotta Rizzi.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church; an Army veteran of World War II; a member of the Foresters Club, Bridgeport, Ohio; past business manager of the Foresters baseball team; and he retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Martins Ferry plant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Frank Rizzi; a sister, Adeline Souillard; and an infant son.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Benedetto Rizzi; two sisters, Elda Barcalow of Bridgeport and Jean Pollock of Martins Ferry; several nieces and nephews including Larry Hoskins and his wife, Patricia of Wheeling, and Mark Hoskins and his wife, Cindy of Pittsburgh.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling, with vigil services at 7 p.m.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. James Sobus as celebrant. Entombment in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling.
