Thomas Wayne Aube

December 4, 1961 - November 1, 2013

12/04/1961 - 11/01/2013

Thomas Tom W. Aube, 51, sighed his last breath peacefully and blissfully at 10:40PM, November 01, 2013. Tom spent his last days at the Kindred Riverpointe Rehabilitation Care Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he received exemplary care. It was a good end to bravely facing a painful and frustrating ordeal with a very difficult and debilitating case of liver cancer. As a man carrying the burden of imminent death, Tom faced his diagnosis philosophically and with much dignity and bravery. Tom was born in Connecticut the son of Thomas and Barbara J. Aube. He was a talented hockey player growing up and had the opportunity to meet and get valuable coaching from NHL hockey legend Gordie Howe. After working all over the east coast he settled in Virginia Beach where he began studying blues guitar with local guitarist Jimmy Williams. Tom and Jimmy soon became great friends and Tom worked with Jimmy in several bands touring throughout the southeast. Tom was an avid supporter of live music and loved playing the guitar and listening to the Blues and American Roots Music. Tom was also an avid golfer and pool player and enjoyed many good times golfing and shooting pool with his good friend Ray Flora. He was very thankful to his friend Robert Ryan who opened his heart and home to him until he was taken Home. Tom was also a friend of Bill W’s. He was an inspiration to many and his unique presence as well as the kindness and support he showed those struggling will be missed by all of his friends. Tom is survived by his mother, Barbara J. Aube of Virginia Beach and his good friend Tammy Weidemoyer, who was by his side continuously throughout his ordeal, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Thomas and sister Pamela J. Jenkins. Also remembering Tom will be the many local musicians and friends whose lives he touched. Tom always opened his wallet and gave alms to the poor. If you would like to offer a few dollars when you see a person living on the street and struggling to get sober that would make Tom happy. A memorial service will be held November 16, 2013 at 11:00 am in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave, Virginia Beach. Condolences may be offered to the family at altmeyer.com.
