Thomas W. Hampson

Age 71

Thomas W. Hampson 71, of Wells Avenue, Wellsville, Ohio died at East Liverpool City Hospital on Wednesday, June 13, 2001 following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Homestead, Pa. on February 6, 1930 and was the son of the late Charles Raymond Hampson and Elsie Luella Steele Hampson.

Mr. Hampson retired from the U.S.X. Steel Company in Pennsylvania, where he worked as a millwright. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. Moving to Wellsville in 1987 , he was a member of Wellsville Veterans of Foreign War, Post 5647 and Wellsville FOE, Post 772.

His first wife, Mildred Bodnar Hampson, whom he married Sept. 15, 1951, died in 1975.

He is survived by his second wife, Shirley A. Tice Hampson, whom he married February 19, 1986; 2 sons, Thomas Hampson of Pennsylvania and John Hampson of West Mifflin, Pa.; 5 daughters, Joanne Trout of Wisconsin, Judith Bach of Alaska, Deborah Andres of West Mifflin, Pa., Donna Hampson of New Jersey, Michelle Eagen of Castle Shannon, Pa.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jeffery Deanna Boley of Wellsville, Oh; 4 sisters, Laverne Rose Stealey of Whitaker, Pa., Beverly Ann Hampson of Brentwood, Pa., Betty Kistler of North Carolina and Linda Hilligsberg of Whitaker, Pa.; 14 grandchildren.

Besides his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles Edward Hampson and James Raymond Hampson.

Memorial Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, June 23, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Paul Weaver, relative of the family, officiating. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors after the service.

Friends may call at the funeral home in Calcutta, one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
