Thomas H. Carpenter, 76, of 4th Street, Moundsville, died Thursday, May 24, 2001 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.
He was born August 25, 1924 in McMechen, WV, a son of the late William H. and Dora Haythorn Carpenter.
He was a retired owner/operator of the Thomas H. Carpenter Heating and Air Conditioning Co., which he operated for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Moundsville; an Army veteran of WW II; a member of the Moundsville Elks, Lodge #282, where he was past Exalted Ruler, a member of the Moundsville VFW, Post #437; and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, Mound City Council No. 6.
He was a devoted, loving husband and best friend to his wife Martha Leach Carpenter, to whom he was married for 52 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Carpenter; and a sister, Dora Carpenter.
Surviving in addition to his wife Martha, are a sister, Alice M. Chaddock, of Hialeah, FL; two brothers, Victor L. Pauline Carpenter, Sr. and C.W.Sylvia Carpenter, of Largo, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received Sunday noon to 3 and 7 to 9 pm, Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV where services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am with the Rev. Tim Wilt officiating. Interment will be held in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV. The Moundsville Elks will conduct a service at 7 pm Sunday.
