THOMAS GIANANGELI, 83 of Bellaire, Ohio, died Easter Sunday, March 31, 2002 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born September 8, 1918 in Bellaire, son of the late John and Alice Abdow Gianangeli.
He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co., a member of St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire; Italian American Club, and a lifetime member of the Sons of Italy.
As an Army veteran in World War II he earned the EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze stars and the American Defense Service Medal during the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes.
Two brothers, Albert and Lawrence Gianangeli and an infant daughter, Virginia Maria Gianangeli preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Florence C. Paolucci Gianangeli; four sons, Thomas J. and his wife Nancy of Richmond, Ohio; John V. and his wife Diane of Bellaire; Anthony L. and his fiancee Diane of Springfield, Va.; Vincent M. and his wife Patti of Colerain; one brother, John of Bellaire; three sisters, Eleanor Dunning of Bellaire; Gloria Kelly of St.Clairsville; Rita Gianangeli of Bellaire; four grandchildren, Brian, Tommy, Eric and Summer Gianangeli.
Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 441-37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Thursday, 9 AM at St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire, with Monsignor Gene W. Mullett as celebrant. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire.
Sons of Italy services 7:30PM Wednesday.
