MORAN, Thelma A., 93, of Wheeling, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at home.
She was born November 1, 1916 in Wheeling a daughter of the late John V. and Augusta Magers Moran. She graduated from Cathedral Grade School and was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She was a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral and worked at J.L. Stifel for 20 years. She then began her career in 1957 with the Wheeling News Register where she retired in 1979. She was also a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph Auxiliary and the CCHS Boosters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Moran, John Moran, and Lawrence Moran, and her sisters Dorothy Littlehales, Nellie Schultz, May May, and Margaret Halpin.
She is survived by 6 nieces and 4 nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, WV 26003 where a vigil service will be held at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Cathedral at 10:00 AM with Msgr. Kevin M. Quirk J.C.D., J.V., as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my sweet Aunt Thelma. I will forever miss seeing her in the very front row during mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral while visiting back home or catching a mass online from afar. May she be resting in God’s hands in heaven above at peace… Love, Katy
