BARBINA, Stephen J., 88, of Benwood, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in Evergreen Rehabilitation Center, Medina, Ohio.
He was born July 2, 1913 in Lafferty, Ohio, the son of the late Steve and Katherine Sikelawa Barbina.
He was employed in the shipping department at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., an Army veteran of World War II, a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Benwood, and a member of the American Legion Post No. 46, Blake Brothers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia Ledzinsky Barbina, in 1989; two daughters, Patricia and Veronica Barbina; a brother, Philip Barbina. Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Wilson and her husband, Joseph of Medina, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Pabin and her husband, Michael of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Cecelia George of Wheeling, and Pauline Pitts of Cleveland; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where Blake Brother services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Johns Catholic Church, Benwood, with the Rev. Gervace Cain, T.O.R. as celebrant. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
