Shirley M. Patterson, age 79, passed away at home on Friday, March 6, 2015. The daughter of the late David and Pondlily Nesbitt Stewart, she was born in Hammondsville on May 4, 1935 and had lived her entire life there. She was a Homemaker and attended the Irondale United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Patterson on December 28, 2007. They were married on November 8, 1952.
Survivors include four sons; Larry Barber and his wife, Chris, of Hammondsville, Michael Patterson of Toronto, James Patterson and his wife Amy, and Bryan Patterson and his wife, Beth, all of Hammondsville. Two daughters, Carole Patton and her husband, Jon, of Wintersville and Susan Thomas and her husband, Bill, of Salineville. 14 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Stewart and William Stewart.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of The Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dan Crowe of the Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammondsville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be at the Wellsville Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

i am so sorry i loved aunt shirley with my heart and soul. she was a wonderful sweet special person. my daddy’s only sister. we always cried everytime we saw each other. rest in peace sweet lady. i will always love and miss you.
