Chesapeake- Shaun P. Brayer, 32, passed away September 13, 2012. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1980. He enlisted in 1999 in the United States Navy and reached the rank of First Class Petty Officer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twelve years; Amy and their four children; Mackenzie, Ethan, Ayden, and Isabella Brayer, parents; Corey Brayer, and Cynthia Settles, step-father; Chuck Settles, sisters; Jennifer Millard and Faith O’Neil, a niece Ella Millard, in-laws; Patsy and Jerry Gray, maternal grandparents; Homer and Joyce Lovelace, and paternal grandparents; George and Theresa Brayer, great-grandmother, Sophie Butler. He was a member of Green Lakes Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA, and the First Class Petty Officers Association within his command. A visitation will be held on September 18, 2012 in the Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southisde Chapel 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach VA from 7:00-9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Norfolk Naval Station in the Chapel on Wednesday Septmeber 19, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial will conclude services in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Please visit altmeyer.com to express condolences to the family.

My condolences to Amy, the kids and all of Shaun’s family. He will be sorely missed by myself and all of his friends. You will all be in my prayers nightly and may he be your Guardian Angel to watch over you all.

I will especially miss his awesome venison whenever he would bring samples to the shop.

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY’S ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN IN THIS SAD TIME. Shaun was a great man he guided me to be the man I am today under his leadership he made me into the leader I am today. I came back from overseas and learned on the loss today on the way home I can recall him smiling talking bout his trucks back in airframes my deepest condolences to the family and friends Shaun you will be missed buddy.

Words can not even express how deeply sadened and empty I am with the loss of my dear friend. Shaun was an amazing person, sailor, father and friend. I am honored and priviledge to have been able to know him and serve with him. he was always there when you needed him; his personality and laugh was contagious. He made the worst times tolerable. I feel honored to see that a picture from Egypt with us in it. Thank you for the adventures on land and at sea. My deepest sympathy goes out the Shaun’s family and his beautiful children.
