Dear Holli and Joyce I am so so sorry for the loss of Ricky I knew he was the apple of your eyes just the way you spoke of him. I am deeply sorry. You both need to stick together and be strong for each other even though at times it may seem unbearable but if nothing else just smile and walk away, that’s the way Ricky would want it

Dear Ms. Holli Williams:

The only certain thing we have in life is death, and we are never prepared for the loss of a loved one. Specially when that person is so young and full of life and with so much to accomplish…..I got to know Ricky through my husband, SFC Howell, after serving in Iraq for a year more than co-workers you become friends and family….and I can honestly say that he always had a great disposition, a big smile, and was a great friend…a very nice young man….may God give you confort on your time of sorrow. We will miss Ricky very much. Love always,

I am so sorry to hear about what has happened. It came to be a shock when I found out through my ex, who served in Iraq with him. He was such a great guy very easy to talk too and all around great person to hang around with. He would always be there if I needed help or just someone to talk too. He will be greatly missed by everyone. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to you in this hard time.

I served with Williams in COL Phillips, 89th MP BDEs “Operators” in Baghdad, Iraq. He was a good Soldier and hard worker. He was an overall great guy. He never had nothing bad to say about anyone. Being in Iraq together, you have the tendency of becoming a family and he was like a brother. I am in shock right now. Mostly because when we all seperated, we said that we would always keep in touch. But never to keep in touch like this. I send my love and condolences to his family. He has touched a part of my life and it was great to have known him. Operator 10D

I was in shock when I found out, and though words mostly escape me, the following needed to be written:

***

Ricky…

You made us all so proud…You were one of those that were willing to sacrifice everything for our country, and no matter how many times we say it, we’ll never be able to say “THANK YOU” enough.

Rest well, my friend. You’ve earned it, and I only hope that those of us you’ve left behind will be able to someday live up to your example.

I’m terribly sorry for your loss. Ricky was a great friend for the time that we got to spend together. I’m only sorry that we lost touch over the years. I know that he will forever be remembered, not forgotten. He really knew how to make people laugh. He spent an entire summer at my house hanging out with me and my brother Weebs, a summer I won’t soon forget. Again, I’m deeply sorry for your loss.

My husband served with Ricky at Ft. Hood with the 89th MP BDE. They served together in Iraq in 2004 under Col. Phillips. Ricky was on my husband’s best friend’s squad and since their squads often did missions together, my husband got to know Ricky well. Once they all returned home safely, Ricky was a frequent guest at our house for BBQ’s and good times. He always had a joke or a funny story to tell. We were looking forward to seeing Ricky when he came to MO for school. We will miss Ricky very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time. Luke and Tiffany O’Neill

Ricky was a great childhood friend of mine. I can remember him helping me deliver papers on my paper route, riding bikes together, and doing all kinds of fun childhood stuff. Even though we lost touch as we got older, I always considered him a friend. He is a great loss to his family, friends and our country.

Ricky, you are the light of your mother’s and grandma’s life. To the Aunts and Cousins you became someone to look up too. When God made he gave you a wondeful mother, she recieved a the greatest gift of life. She loved you and cared for you for 23 years. Ricky, you are the family’s biggiest hero and We are so proud and greatful to have had the chance to watch you grow into this wonderful young man who wasn’t afraid to fight for his country. Your mom right along with the rest of the family will make sure that your memory will live forever. Telling our favorite stories about you to our grandchildren. My son Micheal Goddard said to tell you that he loves you just like a bother and will continue to until he meets you again. Buffy, your the greatest mom and Ricky was real proud of you and his grandma how u let him take and be the big man when your daddy pasted away. I will always be here for you Buffy and if you ever need a shoulder to cry on remember I am here for you ok. I love you and I love ricky and I will truely miss him and his joking ways. God Bless,

To my beloved grandson. You are my first born grandchild, but yet Mom allowed me to share you as if you were my youngest child. My heart is deeply saddened and another piece of it went with you to heaven. I promised you that I would be strong for Mom and I will do my best not to cry in front of her. I know that you will forgive me if I shed a tear now and then in private. I will see you again my baby when you and Pap meet me at Heaven’s gate. I thought that it would be Pap and I who would be waiting for the family to join us, but God had other plans in mind. You were the one person in the world that I could never say “no” to for anything except that Talking Big bird. Until we meet again Rickus, you smiling face will be in my mind forever. Give Pap a hug and kiss from me. Thank you for the five wonderful brothers that you hand chose for your Mom, Jered, Justin, John, Josh and Captain Tony. My heart will never heal, but I will go on. No one will ever be able to forget you. I LOVE YOU and laterz my American Soldier. Grammy

Words truly cannot explain or express the way I feel right now. Ricky was not only one of my best friends, but as each minute went by, he was becoming the soul mate i had been searching for. We grew closer every day. I love him dearly and always will! My heart goes out to his family, especially the mom and grandma that he always spoke of and told me i would have to someday meet. I love Ricky more than he will ever know! As much as I would give anything to have him back, I know he is in a better place watching over all of us. He promised he would never leave me and he never broke his promises. He was a great man and will forever live in our hearts and memories. As for me,as hard as it is right now, i’m going to smile just for him, cause that’s what he would have wanted; even though I miss my “goodmorning beautiful” texts and his trips out to see me at work just so we could get to see each other everyday, him driving all the way to Troy to eat lunch with me between classes, his strong hugs and kisses, and my face hurting from smiling so much and laughing so hard with him. Not to mention all the other great times we had! To his mom and grandma, thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful person to share a part of my heart and life with and would have loved to have had the chance to share so much more! To Ricky, I miss you so much! Thank you for being that very special person in my life, who showed me how to love again and not be afraid. I love you and i will always be your “sweety”! “RIGHT ON!”
