Sara Jane GOMPERS

GOMPERS, Sara Jane Moore, 80, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 at home. Sara was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Lewis and Katherine Heitz Moore. She was a homemaker, a former member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church; and a member of St. Joseph Cathedral. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Gompers, in 1972, whom she married June 23, 1942; a brother, Thomas J. Moore; and a sister, Fannie Kloss. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Gompers and his wife, Lucille, John Gompers and his wife, Theadiane, all of Wheeling; two daughters, Mary Lynn Kreitzer and her husband, Christopher, Janet Taylor and her husband, Ron, all of Wheeling; six grandchildren, Susan Sarkis and her husband, Brian, and Julie Gompers, all of Pittsburgh, PA., Ron Taylor, Lori Taylor, William Taylor and Kayla Kreitzer, all of Wheeling; and a great-granddaughter, Dakota Lynn Taylor. Sara was a beloved and devoted mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends received 2-4 and 6-9 pm Monday at Altmeyer Funeral Homes. 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where vigil service will be held at 3:30 pm Monday. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 27, at St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling, with the Rev. Larry Dorsch as celebrant. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Cathedral, 1300 Eoff St., Wheeling, WV 26003.
