FURBEE, Samuel M., 81, of Third Street, Moundsville, WV, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was a retired machinist from the former Louis Marx Toy Co., Glen Dale, WV; a lifetime member of the Junior Order of Mechanics, Moundsville; a Navy veteran of World War 11; a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, Triadelphia, WV; and member of Marshall Union Lodge No. 8, A.F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bowers and Adaline McCarriher Furbee; and a sister, Evelyn Suter. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Riebe Furbee; three sons, Dr. Jon M. Furbee and his wife, Mary, of Powell, Ohio, Samuel L. Furbee and his wife, Sue, of Worthington, Ohio, and David L. Furbee and his wife, Marylou, of Tridadelphia; a brother, Robert Furbee of Moundsville; a sister, Suzette Kawalesky and her husband, Walter, of McMechen; six grand-children, Jennifer and Jordan Furbee of Powell, Katie and Kelsey Furbee of Worthington, Caleb and Andrew Furbee of Triadelphia; and a brother-in-law, Jake Suter of McMechen. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsvile, with the Rev. Thomas R. Rentfrow officiating. The Moundsville Honor guard will hold services at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
