LUCCY, Samuel Charles, 88, of Wheeling WV, died Wednesday, July 05, 2006 at Wheeling Hospital.
Born in Wheeling WV on March 27, 1918, Samuel was the son of the late Joseph and Angela Maltese Luccy.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a retired employee of the former Blaw Know Foundry, Wheeling, and a Navy veteran of WWII. Sam was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Carroll Council #504, Elm Grove Eagles, Elm Grove Civics, Italian American Club, Kain Club, Cave Club, Holy Name Society at both St. Joseph Cathedral and St. Michael, and the Mended Hearts and Stroke Club of Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Dorothy Thomas Luccy in 1988, his son in law, Ralph Caruso, five brothers, Chester, John, Carl, Frank and Joseph Lucci.
Surviving are two daughters, Renee Niggemyer and her husband George of Zanesville OH, and Diane Gayle Caruso of Akron OH; two brothers, Anthony Lucci of Moundsville WV, and Louis Lucci and his wife Jean of Bellaire OH; two sisters, Rose Amoin of Windsor Canada, and Catherine Melnik and her husband George of Bridgeport OH; one grand daughter, Lisa Trainor and her husband Mark of Cannonsburg PA; one grand son, Brian Niggemyer and his wife Tiffany of Zanesville OH; three great grandchildren, Noah and Dylan Trainor both of Cannonsburg PA and Owen Niggemyer of Zanesville OH; two special caregivers, Jean Lucci and Debbie Murray.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling on Friday, July 7, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling with Fr. Chris Turner as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling. Memorial contributions may be made to Elmhurst House of Friendship, 1228 National Rd. Wheeling WV 26003.
