Norfolk – Russell O. Russ Didier, 77, of the 500 block of Woodford St., died Feb. 18, 2002 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in St. Louis, MO, but resided in Norfolk for the last 38 years. Russ was a proud veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1963 after 22 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military retirement he worked at the Tidewater Automobile Association for many years.
Russ is survived by his wife, Adeline Didier; two daughters, Susan Grunenwald of Chesapeake and Deborah Bradford and her husband Steve of Chesapeake; one son, Greg Didier and his wife Evie of Norfolk; two step-children Tina Cox and her husband Harvey of Virginia Beach, and Jamie Kirby and his wife Joyce of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Ann Bohl and a brother Tommy Didier both of St. Louis, MO; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM, Thursday, Feb. 21 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Va. Beach by Randall Childress of the Kempsville Church of Christ. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Wednesday night at the Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Lee
