“Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate
And though I oft have passed them by
A day will come at last when I
Shall taken the hidden paths that run
West of the moon, east of the sun.”
I greatly enjoyed participating with you and Russ at so many competitions. We will miss his presence and the interactions we had with him. You know you have the support of hundreds of well-wishers in the track and field community who look forward to seeing you again. Peace and grace.
Dear Leonore & family,
I was very sad to hear about Russ’s passing. The last time I saw him he was so energetic & enthusiastic. I will try to always remember him that way. I know he will be missed by many & I am one of those. I have a great deal of respect for him & how he lived his life.
I hope you will contact me if I can do anything for you or your family at any time.
Ron.
Dear Leonore and family,

Dear Leonore, Mike, Cheryl and Norina,
I always shall remember the wonderful times I had with you. I feel so fortunate to have spent 2 weeks with you during the NSG in Virginia. Poor Russ had to fix the screen that I walked through. Leonore, Russ always will be “with us” when we travel to track meets once again.
Blessings and prayers of the Lord with love and hugs,
Pat
Dear Leonore:
Russ was a wonderful man and husband. I enjoyed the time we all spend together barely 2 years ago and how proud he was showing me all he had done with the house and computers. He loved you very much. He lived, participated and admired you through your athletic accomplishments.”
We will miss him but not forget.
God bless,
Phil
I heard of the death of Russ. This is so quick after hearing of his illness. The good part is that the suffering was less than if it had continued. The bad part is the loss.
I can not imagine the loss of my spouse. You must have a real pit of sorrow and loneliness. Rest assured that you have many people who care about you. You are a great, inspirational woman. You have the skills to continue and prosper. Life will not be the same, but you have the fortitude to cope. I wish you the best on your new journey. The spirit of Russ and his memories will live with you. May you have a long and healthy life to enjoy recalling your memories together. I look forward to see you again.
Leanore: I am so sorry to hear fo the loss of you beloved husband. I know you must be devestated. Please know my prayers go out to you. A big hug too. love lots, Liz
Lenore –
Russ was a very special person and the best neighbor and friend anyone could have. No one has ever given more to Bishops Court than he did, and he will be sorely missed. I will always remember his cheerful disposition and his willingness to help his neighbors in any way he could. He will never be forgotten. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you and your family during this very difficult period.
Love, Susan
Lenore:
I always remember how proud Russ was of your home when Pat Peterson and I visited there. The two of you had a special bond and gracious smiles that made us feel welcome and comfortable. Keep up the beautiful smile and your optimistic outlook because Russ will always be with you in spirit.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Russ Van Valkenburgh
Lenore: Even though I never met Russ I know he was a loving husband. All the support he gave during your jaunts here and there for competition. You made him very proud with your many quality performances and awards. His physical presence is not here, but his spirit and love will always remain within.
God bless! I pray for your healing.
Remember the precious moments that you were fortunate enough to share over 52 years.
Take care – I hold only warm thoughts for you and your family.
Love
Rene
