ROSE S. BAIRD
Rose Sylvia Baird, 80, of Chesapeake, Virginia and formerly of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on January 5, 2004. Born on May 12, 1923 in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Frederick Baird and Letha Anne Yates Baird and was the widow of Joseph Carroll Baird. Mrs. Baird was a self-employed hairdresser for many years. She was a genealogist who corresponded with many people from across the country. She was an expert needleworker who won prizes for her smocking, applique and other needlework. Mrs. Baird was a member of The Embroiders Guild of America, Tidewater Virginia Chapter and the American Needlepoint Guild the Hampton Roads Sandpipers.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Baird and a brother, Harry Baird. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Haeger Howard of Germantown, TN.; two grandchildren, Holly von Gunten and Temple Haeger and a great-grandson, Ethan von Gunten, also of Germantown; seven sisters, Joy Penley and Mildred Davis of Johnson City, TN., Kathy Chesser and Patsy Lyons of Elizabethton, TN., Peggy Sweeney of Kingsport, TN., Mary Lee Ledford of Jonesborough, TN., Betty Honeycutt of Jackson, TN.; and two brothers, Yates Baird of Jonesborough, TN., and Paul Baird of Gloucester, VA., and a favorite aunt, Thursa Del Nero of Kennett Square, PA.
Services will be private.
