Rosann Theresa Fox

October 7, 1955 - January 21, 2015

10/07/1955 - 01/21/2015

Rosann T. Fox was finally healed and welcomed home on January 21, 2015. She died in her home with loved ones by her side. Born October 7, 1955 in Staten Island, New York, Rosann moved to Virginia Beach in the early 90’s to give her children a better life. Her passions were many, but her life’s work centered on advocacy for those in need. Although recently retired from Norfolk Public Schools, she was an educator of individuals with disabilities, from minor to severe and profound, her entire life. Rosann was also an active member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Parrish. There, she was the president of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, which is an international charitable organization. She was also actively involved in the renovations and fundraising for the convent for the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Joseph, which is still an ongoing project.
She always wanted to save the world! She loved driving her antique Corvette to the beach, going to concerts, and just being Grandma. Everything in life was an adventure and now she gets to go on the greatest adventure of them all.
Waiting for her to begin this adventure are her husband, William, her parents and her brother John. She is survived by her son, O’Brien Fox and his wife Christine and their son William; her daughter Roxann Fox; and her siblings, Frank Russo, Joann Koncelik and Barbara Russo.
We will rejoice in the peace that Rosann now has and celebrate the wonderful life that was with a funeral Mass on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 10 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Sandra Lane, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Joseph to help finish their convent

I knew Rosann for only a short time but was quickly taken in by her warm, caring and vibrant spirit and know she will be greatly missed by many. It is difficult to find words that will truly comfort loved ones at this difficult time but I would like to share a quote that I find particularly moving: “What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.”

I will pray for you always, dear friend. Our time together was short and I count our friendship as one of my best retirement gifts. We had such a great time making memories! Love you! God’s Peace, Krissann

Rest in peace Ms. Fox. You were always a pleasant person with a smile that could melt the North Pole. I was stunned to hear that you had passed away, but I know you are in a better place. You spent your life looking out for students. My prayers to the family for comfort and strength. You shall see her again on the other side. Be blessed.

Rosann is my dear friend and Yoga Sister! We shared many profound and wonderful experiences both on the yoga mat, at Rock and Roll Concerts, and in New York City! I can not express how she has laughed and sung the good times and the tough times with me! Sister- Heaven is Rocking with you now!!!!

Rosann was my neighbor. I will sorely miss our conversations and knowing I had someone looking out for me as I looked out for her. My boys loved helping her with any small chores that she needed help with. She was a strong independent woman who was always on the go. I admired that about her. Even though she was my mothers age, I considered her a friend. RIP Rosann. You will be missed in our little corner of the cul du sac.

We remember Rosann for her sweet smile, vibrant spirits, and a “honk” from her car just to wave at us or to just say “Good morning” as she drives by. We’ve known her as a good neighbor and friend at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. You will be dearly missed, Rosann. You are now in a better place in heaven with God.
