Roland A. "Red" JOHNSON, 85 of Bellaire, Ohio died Monday March 14, 2005 in the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, West Virginia.

He was born October 21, 1919 in Pultney Township, Belmont County, Ohio, the son of the late Oscar L. and Nellie May Bass Johnson.

Red was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He found his greatest joys in the little children and the ability to fix anything and he usually did. He gave the last several years of his life to the care of his beloved wife through her illness and death and his own struggle to survive.

He served in the US Navy during World War II and was a farmer and steward of the land.

He retired from the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association Local Union 33 Wheeling District and was a lifelong member of the West Bellaire United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Kathy Kelley Johnson on September 26, 2001, and three brothers, Taylor W. Johnson, Earl O. Johnson, and William H. Johnson.

Surviving are his children David A. Johnson and his wife Martha of Athens, Ohio, Leonard P. Johnson of Bellaire, Ohio, Michael W. Johnson and his wife Carol Bessey of Columbus, Ohio, and Gregory A. Johnson and his wife Ann of Bellaire; two brothers, Clarence A. Johnson and his wife Stella of Louisville, Ohio, and Ross Johnson and his wife Mary of Bellaire, Ohio, and two sisters, Alice Jane Rodorcker and her husband Ralph of Navarre, Ohio and Lois Ann Gibboney of Grove City, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Mark Crouse, Katherine Ian Longley, Gregory P. Johnson, Kelley I.Mark L. Miller, Keri C. JasonMiller, Amy M. Steve Cordy, Ian M. Lara Kephart Johnson, Kevin and Jillian McCance, Monica A. and Ryan Johnson, and seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory 441-37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio on Wednesday from 3-5 PM and 6-8 PM where services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM with the Reverend Kevin Leasure officiating.

Interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio.
