Tipton, Roger L. Sr. 74, of Bellaire, Ohio died Friday October 18, 2013 at his home.

Roger was born May 30, 1939 in Bellaire, Ohio a son of the late Fred and Thelma Steiner Tipton Jennings.

He was owner of Roger L. Tipton and Sons Sanitation of Bellaire. He was a member of Brooks Run United Methodist Church, was a 1957 graduate of Bellaire High School, served two years active duty in the Army and two years with the Army Reserve, He was a member of the American Legion Post #52, the VFW Post #626, and the Eagles all of Bellaire, and served twenty plus years as a Pultney Township Trustee.

Preceding him in death was a sister Shirley Trigg.

Surviving is his wife, Esther Harford Tipton, two sons, Roger L. Tipton Jr. of Bellaire, OH and Nolan Laurel Tipton of Alden, NY, a sister, Karen Jennings of Bridgeport, OH, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 11.am. Saturday with Pastor Larry Helms officiating.

Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Belmont County Council of the American Legion will conduct Military Honors at 10:45a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. He and my dad, Sylvan Angus, were good friends. They loved their hunting and fishing trips. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Sympathy to the family always felt a chuckle when he was talking and always remember common sence answers to most things i remember him in my youth and till this day no joke when i see a cigar of any kind the first person i think is Roger i rember how proud he was of Roger and his family never forget the quick wit god bless
