I called Bobby my “Uncle Bobby” because he was closer to my father in age. I guess it was out of respect. It wasn’t until recently that I learned that my father, Jack DeTemple, considered Bobby a brother. They were both brought up as “only children”. For Bobby, it was until Paula was born 14 years later. For my father, it was tragically after his siblings died at a very, very young age.

I didn’t know Uncle Bobby very well until the last two years that I lived with my parents. But I can tell you that he was the most giving and loving person I had ever met. He never had a bad word to say about anyone….and we gave him plenty of opportunities to speak up. hahahaha

Most importantly….I’m thankful that I was able to help Uncle Bobby while he was here during his last days. It was a “gift” to me…..I will remember the rest of my life. I love you, Uncle Bobby.
