Robert S. ”Bob” Saliga, 72 of Lincoln Street, McMechen, died Sunday April 29, 2001 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
Bob was born March 31, 1929 in Benwood, son of the late Stephon and Madilyn Saliga. He was a retired Laborer for Wheeling Steel, Benwood Plant, a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Benwood, a member of the Blake Brothers American Legion Post #46 in Benwood, a member of the V.F.W in Benwood, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Bob also enjoyed woodworking and fixing and working on old appliances.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Clutter Saliga, a son, Mike Saliga and his wife Cathy of Haw River, N.C., two daughters, Barbara Carlson and her husband Daryl of Sulpher, La., and Leslie Saliga of Carnegie, Pa.; a sister, Mary Thomas and her husband George of Wheeling, a brother, Steve Saliga and his wife Gert of Elm Grove; three grandchildren, Lauren and Mikey Saliga, and Matthew Carlson; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday May 3, 2001,2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, where services will be held Friday, May 4, 2001 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gervase Cain T.O.R officiating. Interment will be at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard, WV.
My deepest sympathy to all the Saliga Family, Helen, Barb, Mike and Leslie. My memories of Bob are all of great times and smiles and I will hang on to them for years to come.
