Virginia Beach-Robert Jack Searcy, 80, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at his home in Virginia Beach.
Born in St. Jacob, Illinois, he settled in the Tidewater area following World War II. He was retired from the mobile home business, having sold mobile homes, and owned and managed several mobile home parks over a 50-year period. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and later became a charter member and president of the Southside Lions Club in Chesapeake. He was a past member of the Norfolk Sports Club and in his early years was an amateur boxer and trainer, having trained several top-ranked amateur and professional boxers, including a light-heavy weight world champion. He was a member of Princess Anne Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sherri Searcy three children; Gary W. Searcy of Virginia Beach; Janet Bryant and Husband Allen of Virginia Beach, Ron Searcy and wife Teresa of Colorado. Three sisters; Lynda Ghidotti and family, Katheryn Searcy, and Shirley Carey and family.
Also surviving Robert J. Searcy are his six grandchildren; Gary W. Searcy Jr., Tyler Searcy, Shelby Bryant, Robert Bryant, Ashley Searcy, and Dustin Searcy.
A memorial Service will be held at Princess Anne Baptist Church in Virginia Beach by Pastor George Baker on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 1:00 pm.

Mr. Searcy and his family has always played a very important part in me and my families life since I was a little child. He always told me to strive for the best.He will be greatly missed especially by my mother DEE. Just remember that GOD IS IN CONTROL. lOVE YOU ALL, Annette.

Sheri and family, we were sorry to see that Bob had passed away. He was a dear man and we always enjoyed talking with him. It has been a long time since we have seen any of the family. We have moved from Lake Shores and now live in Saw Pen Point. Our thoughts and prayer are with each of you.
