HUGUS, Robert “Bob” passed away Tuesday March 11th surrounded by his family. He was preceded by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth “Betty”, his mother Nellie Hugus, his beloved yorkie, Sugar of 15 years. Bob is a veteran of the Army, where he was a participant in the first testing of the atomic bomb in Nevada and was a lifeguard.
He is a lifelong resident of the Ohio Valley, working for the B & O Railroad and retiring from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Bob also worked at DiCarlos Pizza Shop at many locations for many years and the Benwood Housing also was known for seeing Bob’s many handy works. He was also a basketball star for Wheeling High School that received several trophy’s and scholarships. Bob was an accomplished carpenter and stone-mason, working on the construction of Oglebay Park Wilson Lodge. Bob was also the owner of “Bob’s Pizza” 707 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, McMechen.
Surviving is his son, James Diane Hugus of St. Clairsville and three daughters, Debra Hugus of Bellaire, Kathy Kevin Polinski of Cameron and Theresa Steve Huml of St. Clairsville who he resided with and a brother Eugene “Pudy” Tenny Hugus of Wheeling.
He is also survived by several grandchildren including: Deanna Cline, Jennifer, Amy and Mary Dunn, Tony, Keith and Andru Hugus, Julia Polinski, Amanda and Jessica Huml, great grandchildren, Skyler, Daijah, Davonete and Caysen and several nieces and nephews and his cat Callie.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 11am until the time of service at 1pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, with Rev. Ray Cooper officiating. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

Sorry I couldnt be there to enjoy the last few years with you grandpap. I know your were you need to be now, and it is better off. Im glad you and grandma are together again, because we all know that your health didnt take you , It was not having grandma there. Though i didnt get to see you or grandma often I love you grandpa bob and grandma betty and I miss you!
