Robert H. Cowen, 87, of Bellaire, Ohio, died Thursday April 17, 2008 at his home.

Bob was born November 20, 1920 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Henry D. and Ada Robinson Cowen.

Bob was retired from Belmont Savings Bank, Bellaire, Ohio, and a member of the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church, Brooks Bird Club of West Virginia, St. Clairsville Noon Rotary, Rock Hill Grange, Belmont County Farm Bureau, Belmont County Public Defenders Board, life member of Sigma Chi, The Bellaire High School Alumni Association, West Virginia Wing Civil Air Patrol and served as Army Captain during WWII service in the Philippines.

Preceding his death were a brother Duane Cowen.

Surviving is his wife Mary Louise Giffin Cowen, 7 children, Catherine L. Darrell Buffenbarger of Tampa, FL, Robert David Lori Cowen of Upper Darby, Pa., John W. Rita Cowen of Pueblo, CO., James S. Cowen, Bellaire, OH., Patricia A. Edwin B. Long of St. Clairsville, Oh, Bruce H. Gwen Cowen of Bellaire, OH and Nancy E. Bart DeStefano of Bellaire, OH, two brothers George Millie Cowen of St. Clairsville, OH and William R. Nancy Jean Cowen of Radford, VA a sister, Elizabeth Holloway of Fayetteville, NC. 20 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends received Sunday 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio and on Monday at the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church from 9a.m. until time of funeral service at 11a.m. with Pastor Donald J. Cordery officiating.

Interment in Rock Hill Cemetery Bellaire, Ohio.

Belmont County Council of the American Legion will conduct services at 7p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to, Valley Hospice or Rock Hill Presbyterian Church.
