WEIR, Robert Franklin, 67, died peacefully on September 15, 2003 at his home at 737 Main Street, overlooking the beautiful Ohio River, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He attended Wheeling Central Catholic High School and graduated from McKinley Vocational School. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local #3. Throughout his career he worked for various local contracting companies. He was appointed as foreman or superintendent on many projects. He also was owner of Bob Weir and Sons Contracting. Bob was instrumental in the renovation of Victorian Old Town in North Wheeling. He received various awards for his participation. He also participated in the renovation of many structures in the Downtown area and also Center Wheeling. He was considered to be a true artisan of his craft and a mentor to many. Of his many artistic talents, one of his favorite pastimes was painting. He was also a member of various religious and community organizations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Ann Jamison Ross, a great grand daughter, Jaelin Elizabeth Creighton.
Surviving are is wife, Cecelia Ann Motto Weir, four children, Kimberly Podratsky and her husband Thad, Sherry Wizba and her husband Frederic, Robert J. Weir and his wife Bridget all of Wheeling; Philip Weir of Fla; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Josh, Chelsey, Sara, Philip, Annie, Lauren, Remy and Emily; three great grandchildren, Caitlin, Jalen and Tristan; a sister, Christine Eisenhauer of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Catholic High School, Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV 26003. Friends are invited to attend a memorial Funeral Liturgy and Mass at 10:00am., Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at St. Joseph Cathedral with Rev. Larry Dorsch officiating. Sherry, so very sorry to read of your loss. I always liked and respected your dad especially during his early days with the construction company. I think of you often and wonder how your life has progressed since last seeing you. Please express my condolences to your mother, sister and brothers. You all will be in my prayers.
