Robert A. Taylor, 78, of Moundsville, WV, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Shadyside, Ohio.

He was born June 1, 1923, in Moundsville, a son of the late Arlie and Bertha Brooks Taylor.

He was a retired employee with Venco of Moundsville, a member of the First Christian Church, Moundsville, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Robert played basketball at Moundsville High Schoool and was one of the "Hungry Trojans".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Taylor; a grandson, Robert Hunter Taylor.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Virginia B. Bartholow Taylor; a son, Robert Taylor and wife Jan, of Glen Dale; a daughter, Vicki Yocum and husband George, of Moundsville; a grandson, Scott Yocum and wife Kelli, of Wheeling; two granddaughters, Brianne and Molly Taylor, both of Glen Dale; four brothers, James Taylor and wife Sandy, and Donald Taylor and wife Vivian, all of Moundsville, Ronald Taylor and wife Patsy, of Benwood, and Ralph Taylor of McMechen; three sisters, Betty Voorheis, Mary Belle Lucas and husband Dean, and Ruth Ann McDonald and husband Wayne, all of Moundsville.

Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, with Rev. Mark Crow officiating. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.

The Moundsville Honor Guard will be conducting military graveside service.

Rob and family: Sorry to hear about the lost of Mr Taylor. I’m sure he’ll be missed by both family and friends.
