Richard H. Cook, 89, of Chesapeake, Virginia, formally of Falconer passed away Wednesday February 19, 2014 in Chesapeake, Virginia.

He was born May 28, 1924 in Jamestown, the son of the late Herbert A. and Martha Clyde Cook.
Richard attended Falconer High School and was a graduate of Bliss Electrical School in Washington D. C. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 during WW II in the 738 th Signal Aircraft Warning Company, serving in Florida, England, France and Germany. He also served in the Jamestown National Guard from 1950 to 1959.
Prior to retirement Richard was employed by the U.S. Army USACEEIA- CONUS from 1976- 1984 as a Telecommunications Engineer and started his career with Jamestown Telephone Company. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6319, Greencastle, PA and the American Legion Post 373 of Greencastle, PA, and the member of B.P.O.E. Elks # 600 in Chambersburg, PA.

He is survived by his wife C. Joyce Sandburg Cook whom he married October 12, 1946 in Jamestown, a son: Herbert Betty Jo Cook of Panama NY; a daughter: Charleen Luke Crouson of Chesapeake VA; six grandchildren: Luke Crouson of Jacksonville, NC, Paul Crouson of Chesapeake VA, Daniel Crouson of Southport, NC, Jesse Cook of West Ellicott, Shane Cook of Panama, NY, and Cody Cook of Buffalo, NY; 10 great grandchildren; two nieces: Carol Ball Carbrey and Sharon Ball Cannon both of FL.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Barbara Jean Cook Ball, and infant daughter Charlotte Mae Cook.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Friends will be received by the family from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday followed by the funeral service. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery, Falconer NY.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
