Richard C. ”Trickey” Roach
Age 75
Richard C. ”Trickey” Roach, 75 of Meadow Lane, East Liverpool, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Liverpool on October 14, 1925 , the son of the late William Roach and Hazel Allen Roach Silverthorn.
Mr. Roach, a lifelong resident of East Liverpool, retired in 1977 after 33 years of driving truck for B & P Motor Express. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a member of Glenmoor American Legion , Post 736, the Moose Lodge # 122, Inner City Pool League and Teamster Local #92.
He is survived by his wife, Ava Steed Roach, whom he married, July 10, 1958;
3 sons, Jay M. Roach and his wife, Lori of Martins Ferry, OH , Steven A. Roach and his wife Paula of Lisbon and Ronald K. Roach of East Liverpool, OH; 2 daughters, Tammy Nichols and her husband Wayne of East Liverpool, OH, and
Nancy Folkertsma and her husband, Phillip of Grand Rapids, MI; one brother, Robert V.D. Roach of Orlando, FL; 4 sisters, Mrs. Eileen Purinton of East Liverpool, OH, Hazel Flara and her husband, Tony of East Liverpool, OH, Verna Thorne and her husband, Donald of East Liverpool, OH and Shirley Gibbs and her husband, Howard of East Liverpool, OH; 2 half sisters, Roberta Sodara and her husband, William of La Porte, TX and Mary McCoy and her husband James of Barberton, OH; 3 step-sisters, Viola Densmore and her husband, Reid of East Liverpool, OH, Donna Renner and her husband, John of East Liverpool, OH and Mrs. Louise Blaschak of Wellsville, OH; 1 Step-Brother, Frank Silverthorn of New Philadelphia, OH; 8 Grandchildren; Melissa Roach, Michael Roach, Kristy Roach, Courtney Roach, Ronald Roach,Jr., Richard D. Roach, Rick Folkertsma and Lori Folkertsma; and 7 Great-Grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard F. Roach, who lost his life in Vietman, and his step-father, Clifford Silverthorn.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes today, Thursday, September 27, 2001 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. There are no services planned.
