Richard C. Barker

Age 78

Richard C. Barker 78 of Avondale Street, East liverpool, Ohio died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at East Liverpool Convalescent Center #1.

He was born in East Liverpool on May 21, 1923 and was the son of the late Clarence and Ellen Snappe Barker.

Mr. Barker worked as a packer at T S & T Pottery and at Anchor Hocking, retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II in England and Belgium. He was a member of East Liverpool V.F.W. Post 66.

His wife, Mildred Willis Barker, whom he married February 10, 1946, died September 21, 1999.

He is survived by a son, Terry Barker and his wife, Judith of Mentor, Ohio; a daughter, Penny Shook and her husband, Earl of Beavercreek, Ohio; two brothers, Robert Barker and his wife, Kate of Calcutta and Jack Barker and his wife, Peggy of Calcutta; two sisters, Helen Sullivan of Calcutta and Pauline Copenhaver of Calcutta; three grandchildren, Julie Dubeanski and her husband Allen of Mentor, Joshua Barker of Mentor and Angela Shook of Beavercreek, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Barnhouse, Gert Williamson and Jean Clark.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, November 2, 2001 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Charles Parry officiating of East Liverpool City Hospital.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home in Calcutta , today Thursday, November 1, 2001 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
