Holt, Rev. Gene, Sr., 78, of Moundsville, WV, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at home.
He was born July 3, 1927 in Jane Lew, WV, a son of the late Marston Burl and Mabel Edmonds Holt. Mr. Holt was a retired Methodist Minister with 35 years of service, and a member of the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church, Moundsville, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Neal Holt and a granddaughter, Brittany Holt.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Margie Ann Hitt Holt; six sons, Gene Holt, Jr. and his wife, Marla, of Moundsville, Richard A. Holt and his wife, Michal, of McMechen, WV, Tim Holt and his wife, Dolly, of Moundsville, David L. Holt and his wife, Karen, of Moundsville, Mark S. Holt and his wife, Barbara, of War, WV, and Hugh P. Holt and his wife, Barbara, of Clark, OH; four daughters, Joyce M. Hall and her husband, Doug, of West Union, WV, Terry Lee Schmees of Reading, OH, Brenda Holt and her companion, Paul Frey, of Moundsville, and Nora Hill and her husband, Claude, of Spencer, VA; 19 grandchildren, Taylor and Joseph Hall, Ryan and Cory Holt, Kelly and Derrick Schmees, Jesse and Beau Truex, Nikita Holt, April Cain, Jonathan and Matthew Holt, Missy and Jeremiah Holt, Lisa Serrano, Hugh and Ashley Holt, Christopher and David Hill; 9 great-grandchildren, Cameron Hall, Gage Lemke, Chaice Truex, Jasmine Truex, Ci-erra Truex, Danielle Holt, Emily Holt, Christopher Jones, and Isabella Jones; four brothers, James Holt and his wife, Louise, of Akron, OH, Edward Holt, of California, John Holt of Florida, and Marston Holt and his wife, Elizabeth, of Uniontown, OH; three sisters, Ann Edmond and her husband, James, of Akron, Betty Mastrojohn and her husband, John, of Akron, and Patricia Hughes, of Mexico; many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, Moundsville.

Dear Brenda & Family,

I was happy to see you @ the hospital but sad to hear that your father was seriously ill. Now the painful battle is over. No matter how are loved ones die it is difficult to let them go. May you be comforted by fond memories and your love for each other.
