Raymond L Poland

POLAND, Raymond L, 85 of Glen Dale, WV, died Friday, February 1, 2008 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born November 11, 1922 in Glovers Gap, WV, a son of the late Oscar and Ida Furbee Poland.
He was a former employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, a member of the Osiris Temple, Scottish Rite, Marshall Union #8 AF & AM, American Legion Post #3, VFW Post # 437, and an Army veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Plantz Poland, three brothers, Charles, Fred and Earl Poland, three sisters, Rebecca Palmer, Cathilene and Viola Poland.
Surviving is two children, George Poland and his wife Jeannie of St. Clairsville, OH; Mary Grimm and her husband Tom of Moundsville, WV; three brothers, Edwin Poland and his wife Myrtle of Glen Dale; Harry Poland and his wife Eleanor of Warren, OH; James Poland and his wife Cathy of Hamilton, VA; three sisters, Ilene Dudash of Farmington, WV; Donna Fontaine and her husband Harry of Marietta, OH; Dolores Mallery of Wheeling; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008 with Rev. J. Thomas Steele officiating.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
