Raymond Hess
Age: 91

Raymond Hess, of Anderson Boulevard, in East Liverpool, died, Thursday, October 30, 2003, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Hess was born to the late James & Ida Dugan Hess, on May 5, 1912, in East Liverpool, and has lived his entire life in this vicinity. He worked for 35 years as a machine tender for the former Ferro Porcelain, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool for 48 years, and served in the US Army during WWII, receiving four bronze stars. He was named honorary bailiff for East Liverpool Municipal Court.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Neal Hess, whom he married March 30, 1957, a son, Raymond Hess, and three brothers.

He is survived by a daughter, Betty Jane Pierson and her husband Richard, of East Liverpool, a stepson, Colin L Neal, of East Liverpool, and two sisters, Pauline Boram and her husband Ronald, and Thelma Hamilton and her husband Harry, both of East Liverpool, 16 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Monday, November 3, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Gary Lemasters, of East Liverpool will be officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, where the Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

The family will be present to receive friends at the East Liverpool Chapel, Sunday, November 2, from 12-4 and 6-8 p.m.
