Raymond A. Akins, 94 of East Liverpool, OH passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Assisted Living Ministry in East Liverpool following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Liverpool on January 23, 1920, a son to the late Albert Ross and Bernadine Hoping Akins. He lived his entire life in this area, working as an owner and operator of The Children’s Shop. He was a Veteran of the US Army, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carroll Council #0509 and a member of the former St. Aloysius Parish.
Mr. Akins is survived by his daughter: Andrea Copestick and her husband Robert of East Liverpool, OH and three grandchildren: Vaughn Copestick of East Liverpool, OH, Alicia Henderson and her husband Kinsey of Lexington, KY and Alexander Copestick of Dublin, OH and one great grandson: Braiden Henderson of Lexington, KY.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Alberta Mullen Akins whom he married December 28, 1945; four brothers and one sister.
Per Mr. Akins wishes no services or visitation have been planned. The Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes has been entrusted with his arrangements.
