McLaughlin, Ray E. Jr. “Mickey” 64, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at home.
He was born February 29, 1944 in Wheeling, a son of the late Ray E. Sr. and Sara Joseph McLaughlin.
He was a former teacher at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, Cathedral Grade School, St. James and John Grade School, St. Francis Xavier Grade School, and retired as manager of Pro-Golf Discounts.
Mickey loved Ohio Valley Sports and volunteered at many youth basketball camps, coaching football and basketball at Corpus Christi Grade School, coaching the girl’s golf team at Wheeling Central which won the 1967 WV Girls State Catholic Golf Championship, and he was a former Ohio Valley Board Basketball official.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Gary McLaughlin.
Surviving is one brother, Mark McLaughlin and his wife Barb of Wheeling; a sister-in-law, Peggy McLaughlin of Fairmont, WV; one nephew, Bradley McLaughlin of Wheeling; two nieces, Kristen McLaughlin of Wheeling; Whitney Cavallo and her husband Chaz of Fairmont; two aunts, Gail McCurry and her husband Gerald of Tulsa, OK; Betty Joseph of Wheeling; three sons, Jason McLaughlin and Ray E. McLaughlin III of Wheeling; Douglas McLaughlin of Evansville, IN; one daughter, Shannon Stokes of Newark, OH; five grandchildren, several loving cousins.
Friends received 6-9 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 in Our Lady of Lebanon Church with Rev. Bahkos Chidiac as celebrant.
Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions can be made to Wheeling Central Catholic High School Weight Room or Our Lady of Lebanon Building Fund.
