Ralph Elliott Centers, 62, of the 5900 block of Cypress Point Circle died on July 25, 2001 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Centers was born in Stevenson, Alabama and resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He graduated from Maury High School and upon graduation served in the United States Coast Guard. For the past 21 years he owned Centers Construction Company. He is past president of Tidewater Remodelers Association. Mr. Centers was a member of the Scottish Rite, Norfolk #1 Blue Lodge and the Shriners Khedive Temple.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley Centers, one daughter, Kimberly Stites and her husband, Ronald, of Virginia Beach; his brother, Harold Centers and his wife, Carrie, of Baltimore, Maryland; his sister, Imogene Jannise and her husband, Charles, of Norfolk, Virginia; four grandchildren, Justin Masterson, Katelyn, Andrew and Matthew Stites of Virginia Beach; niece, Charlene Jannise of Norfolk; nephews, Wayne, Kenny and Bobby Centers of Nashville, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Unity Church of Tidewater 5580 Shell Road, Virginia Beach, on Saturday, July 28, 2001 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Joyce Kramer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospital Hospitality House, Inc. 612 E. Marshall Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and wonderful friend. He will be missed by all.

I knew his mother and father very well. I bought a Honda from Ralph many years ago. I flew from Chattanooga to Norfolk. He met me at the airport, I gave him a check, and he gave me the keys. I drove back home. It was the best car I ever owned!
