Retired LCDR Philip Henry Mobbs, U. S. Navy, Medical Service Corps, 77, a native of Plymouth, MA, who lived in Norfolk for 40 years, died December 6, 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Katherine Elizabeth Groff Mobbs and sons,
Philip M. Mobbs and wife Barbara of Reston, VA, Thomas P. Mobbs and wife Diane of
Worcester, MA, and Robert A. Mobbs and wife Deborah of Atlantic Beach, FL and grandson Stephen A. Mobbs; sister Cecilia Pretti of North Plymouth, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Philip Mobbs was a veteran with over 30 years of naval service, including duty in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the local and national chapters of the Retired Officers Association, the Sewells Point Golf Club, and the Virginia Beach Seniors Golf Club, and was an avid bowler.
He was a Roman Catholic and Parishioner of the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base
Chapel where a Memorial Mass will be held on Monday December 10, 2001 at 10:00a.m. with burial in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
