Peter Andrew Loborec Jr., 69, of Wheeling, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at home. He was born on April 7, 1932, in Warren, Ohio, a son of the late Peter and Mary Nemcovski Loborec. He was one of four children who settled in Wheeling. Surviving are his brother, Steven of Wheeling and two sisters, Margaret Schenk of Wheeling and Betty Simms of Garland, Texas. His father, like so many other residents of the Ohio Valley, was a coal miner. Pete married Rose Bellanca on February 22, 1955 and he and Rose had four children, Pete III, and his wife, Kathy, of Wheeling, Tony and his wife, Patti of Burgettstown, Pa., Tom and his wife Donna, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Michael and his wife, Julie, of Wheeling. Pete was a very devoted father, who deeply cared for his family. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1994 from Wonder Bread Bakery and in 1996, he retired from the West Virginia Division of Highways. More recently, in 2000, he retired from True Value Hardware on Washington Avenue in Wheeling. He is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Italian American Club, Elm Grove. Pete enjoyed spending time with his wife, Rose, and working. He has 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elm Grove, with the Rev. James LaCrosse, S.M., as celebrant. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
